Color Based Sorting Mechanism
Objective
Manufacturing is the main step for the production of any product in today’s market. With an increase in the demand for products, assembly lines and conveyor belts are being used for faster mass production. With this, a new challenge of designing an efficient monitoring system with less human interference is being faced. To address this challenge, advanced machine vision systems are being designed. In real-world applications, this is required in industries where various parts have to be sent to their respective machining centers or this can be used for quality check (QC) purposes. These QC systems use multiple cameras which inspect the product from various angles and the image captured is compared with a sample reference image.
Our project addresses this problem with a basic system that detects the color of objects placed on the conveyer belt. We can use such color coding for the sorting of components and it is not necessary that the entire component is of that color.
Problem Statement - "To design and manufacture a mechatronics system which is capable of detecting and segregating objects based on their colors"
